A Roots Soda Co. stockist since the early days, Cranachan and Crowdie is a treasure trove of artisanal and craft Scottish products and can be found on the Royal Mile. Brainchild of Beth Edberg and Fiona McEwan, Cranachan and Crowdie was established after coming to the realisation that there aren’t many places in Edinburgh where visitors could go to buy authentic Scottish food and drink and guarantee that everything on the shelves was produced in Scotland.

You can find over three hundred different products of all kinds at Cranachan and Crowdie, although there is a large emphasis on food and drink. Everything sold in the store is made in Scotland by small scale Scottish producers, and often made by hand. The shop boasts what is possibly the biggest selection of Scottish products in the country and you can find anything from shortbread and whisky to pottery and Harris tweed.

Beth and Fiona often visit the producers whose goods are sold in Cranachan and they also invite their food and drink suppliers in-store to showcase their products, hosting a different small producer in the shop every week during the summer months. This initiative began during last year’s Year of Food and Drink and has been brought back for 2016 due to its popularity. The full listing of which producers will be appearing in-store every Thursday from 3-6pm can be found on their website below.

Cranachan and Crowdie houses a huge range of artisan foods not easily found elsewhere in the city, and a selection of their Scottish goods are also available online. Beth and Fiona are constantly on the look out for new, small producers to stock so it’s a great place to find interesting quality Scottish produce, for locals and tourists alike. Also, there’s always a bit of shortbread available for sampling, just in case you needed another reason to pop in…
